ARTIFACT 1: Violence on Campus

My school shares a building with a high school. We had a high school student bring a gun to school after being suspended the week before. This experience was a great example for how to approach this type of situation and how to navigate the media and families in the aftermath.

ARTIFACT 2: Crisis Prevention Intervention Training

I attended an 8 hour training focused on Nonviolent Crisis Intervention, which is a program focusing on safe behavior management for students with severe behaviors. The training was focused on understanding levels of behavior, appropriate responses, de-escalation strategies, control dynamics, and coping techniques.

In the 8 years of being trained, I have been a part of many crisis responses and debriefs with families, students, and staff.
