STANDARD #1

An educational leader promotes the success of all students by facilitating the development, articulation, implementation, and stewardship of a vision of learning that is shared and supported by the school community.

ARTIFACT 1: SCHOOL IMPROVEMENT PLAN

Creating our school improvement plan based on district outcomes was a multi-layered process.  As the unreleased dean, I worked with our school principal and instructional coach to develop the plan.  Once the draft was written we worked with the leadership team to finalize and create our action plan going forward.

ARTIFACT 2: STANDARDS REFERENCED GRADING INITIATIVE

When our district was working to implement standards referenced grading (SRG) across the district at all levels. I was a part of the professional development for our staff which supported the  implementation at our school.  In addition to working with staff, educating parents was another large piece of the process.

ARTIFACT 3: Facilitating Leadership Team

I have been afforded the trusted opportunity to facilitate our monthly leadership meetings.  I have utilized this time to build capacity in our teacher leaders through Brene Brown's Dare to Lead work. We started reflecting on leadership, learning about armored vs. daring leadership skills, setting individual leadership goals, and supporting each other through a culture of feedback and daring leadership.  Because of this work, teachers are more involved in the work around our School Improvement Plan, are invested to promoting equity in classrooms, and are leaning into difficult conversations they otherwise would try to zigzag and avoid. I am extremely proud of this work and the investment of our teachers.
