ARTIFACT 1: Parent Phone Call

There was an incident in which a staffed Behavior Disorder (BD) and mentally ill (MI) student acted out on the playground resulting in an escalation ending in threats of murdering classmates. Since this student is a BD student, the approach to handling the situation had to be guided by his IEP, BIP and sped law. This reflection is focused on the phone call made to parents after the incident occurred.

ARTIFACT 2: Conferences and IEP Meetings

Conferences, IEP review meetings, transitions meetings, and progress report meetings are all times in which I communicate with families their student's progress in regards to their individual goals. These meetings are times in which I take a closer look at monitoring data and discuss with families the effectiveness of the current plan for curriculum, instruction and assessment as well as make a plan for the next steps in their student's educational journey.
